Evocative and moving, and also astonishingly informative. I was immediately engaged by Alexanian's beautiful writing and ability to transport the reader into a world both fascinating and sorrowful. Nastia is an immediately charming protagonist with whom the reader can emotionally relate, if not culturally--at first. Alexanians takes us up to land with an amazing and mesmerizing jolt into a foreign and frightening world, one in direct contrast to this reviewer's personal experience and yet one in which I was soon immersed, familiarized with gorgeous descriptions, and always still with the ability to relate to Nastia's considerable challenges. I was with her throughout (I couldn't put the book down) and within a very short time felt as though her world were indeed my own. I suffered and celebrated with Nastia. I was transplanted.
TRANSPLANTED is a must read, an exciting page-turner and a gift to all of us who love to lose ourselves within an excellent novel.

Transplanted A Journey of Enchantment and Disappointments edition by Christine Alexanians Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

"The cool autumn wind lifts the leaves off the ground and pushes them against her feet. It sends a rush up her body. She inhales the crisp air to clear her mind, but instead, the smell of gunpowder reminds her of the imminent dangers."

I love this book for its descriptive style and straightforward text; it takes the reader through tales of love and despair with ease. The compelling scenes between two worlds keep you engaged to the end.

Our heroine Nastia is transplanted to a place she deems brutal, unsanitary and unjust towards women. In the face of hardship she conceals her wounds, tolerates each setback and conforms in order to survive; yet her feisty spirit never loses her voice against violence and abuse for those less fortunate. She brings truth where there is discord and comforts in the face of hatred.

Her curious nature guides us through a culture and its peoples enriched tradition as her family grows and her journey intensifies with intrigue.
What an adventure. I laughed and cried. A journey of a young woman from revolutionary Russia to Persia. Through the narration of Nastia's history, you read a history of women, young and old, fighting for their lives, their children's, and their rights, in a traditional muslim country during the twenties and the thirties. I am waiting for the next book.
This was a beautiful story and when I finished reading it and turned the page over and learned that it was part fictional, I cried as if I knew Nastia.
I was only faintly aware of the Persian culture and traditions (since my family left Iran when I was very young) so this book taught me a lot!
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who is in the same boat as me, as well as anyone who has nothing to do with this culture since not only it is a remarkable and beautiful story, but also one that will broaden your knowledgeable.
